Title                     “PHRT Imaging project: Towards holistic virtual 3D histopathology techniques”

Subtitle               Personalized medicine is gaining increasing importance to enable a better prognosis and ultimately a more personalized treatment for patients. Virtual 3D histopathology techniques are very promising in this context. Tissue biopsies, are conventionally stained and sliced, which can be too intrusive for retaining all tissue details and can alter the sample. Furthermore, it disables coupling with downstream genetic and molecular analysis. These drawbacks are eliminated by virtual 3D histopathology and enable a holistic tissue analysis for precision medicine. We will discuss how we are doing research with partners at the sitem-insel with respect to novel X-ray phase-contrast micro-CT techniques for 3D virtual histopathology of full biopsy samples enabling a more personalized diagnosis and treatment.
